Celebrity Wedding Reception of Sharifah Sofea & Syed Ismail

It was a great honour for me to be commissioned as the official photographer for the wedding of Actress Sharifah Sofea and Tuan Syed Ismail at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur sometime late last year. Resplendent in Amir Luqman’s Creation the bride and also the groom was an absolutely fun couple to photographed.I first met the groom when I was photographing the wedding of His Highness Tunku Danny & Claire-Louise moore. At the same time I was working on a TV project called Wajah Impian with Sharifah Sofea:)

Here are some of my favorite images from the wedding:

I particularly like the following image, it was also one of the couples’ favorite:

Why? if you look at the image, you would never have imagine when or where is was taken. It was taken at a very crammed and “messy” serving area just before the couple proceeded for their bridal march. I wish I had taken an image of the surrounding for comparison. The closest i had was the following picture:

Sometimes photographers complained to me that “the couple is not good looking , the set up is not nice, the surrounding is not this and that!”

And this is my reply: “Our philosophy as a professional photographer should be make the best with what you have and be the best you can!”

The event was graced by Kelantan Regent Tengku Muhammad Faris Sultan Ismail Petra. It also saw a special performance from the grooms Cobra Team Mates.

Simple review & Trailer of 72 Tenants of Prosperity

Based on 1973 Shaw Brothers film, The House of 72 Tenants – 72 Tenants of Prosperity is one of the funniest “hor Sui Pien” i have watch in the recent years:)

Starring Eric Tsang, Jacky Cheung, Anita Yuen, Stephy Phang, Wong Chok Lam , Bosco Wong and Linda Chung the movie is also , billed as the movie with no extras. The are so many fun Cameos by Hong kong Stars.

BFM 89.9 :The Business Station – In Conversation with Kid Chan

Last week, I was honored to be interviewed by BFM 89.9 for the In Conversation segment. Despite many TV interviews, this is my first radio interview experience Partly also previously I wasn’t too keen as i cant really stand my recorded voice. I think i squeak …..

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the BFM’s “Wall of Fame” and their quirky tagline like “brake faster Macha” & “Bribe Free Malaysian”. The wall had many pictures and notes from well known business personality in the country like Alliance Bank’s Dato’ Bridget Lai and Ex Mas Ceo and Now Minister YB. Datuk Seri Idris Jala. I also met Dato’ David Nicol in person as she was the personality before me that got interview in the studio.

So how does it feel like? Well, at first i felt kind of uncomfortable as i was focusing at the big A*s in your face MIC in front of me.

After a while as the DJ Tiffany Chew spoke to me, my attention turn to her- it just felt like talking to a friend over dinner:)

Ask Kid Chan – Do i need to feed my wedding photographer?

Dear Kid Chan,

I have a rather question that I am too embarrassed to ask my photographer. My wedding will be held in a hotel next March, do I need to provide him food?

Dear Andrea,

Congratulations! I understand that the concern of providing food to the photographer at a hotel may be high.

As a professional, we do not expect to be provided with food. However based on my experience most of the time, as the photographer I am first in to capture the environment and last out after the family formal shots.

This means if I had arrived before 6pm and leaves at 12.00am, I would have been working for 7 hours straight without food (another half and hour to get to the nearest mamak stalls!)

At such it would be prudent to provide your photographer with some simple food like fried rice, if you don’t want them to faint at the reception.

I can assure you if you treat your photographer right, they will be even more motivated in capturing the shots.

Akad Nikah Photography of Abdul Salim bin Fadzlay Rahman & Ariaty Binti Mohd Abidin

Am honoured to photographed the Akad Nikah of Salim & Ariaty at Puchong’s Lake Edge on the 18th of December 2009. The couple met 3 years ago at the Curve, while Salim was hanging out with his buddy and Ariaty with her sister.

The Couple had their Grand Bersanding Ceremony in Concorde Shah Alam two days later.

Together with Qabil Ambak, Quzandria Nur of 3Q Equestrian & Alia Soraya, Salim was the 2001 SEA Games TEAM dressage gold medalist.
