Educate Children on Healthy Lifestyle - The Star Metro Click to enlargeThe National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) in collaboration with Courts Malaysia (Courts), launched an awareness campaign themed Hope for Our Children, which aims to engender understanding that cancer can be prevented if an individual opts to live a healthy lifestyle.

As part of the campaign outreach efforts, I am priviledged to be roped in NCSM and Courts  to create portraits of the beautiful moments shared between the cancer survivors and their family members. Shooting the campaign was a real humbling experience for me. It is so inspiring to see the courage of the cancer survior in their fight against the Big-C. So stay tune for my thought captured on video about shooting the campaign.

“Many people associate the diagnosis of cancer as the end of life’s journey but these images portrays otherwise and if one adopts a healthy lifestyle, it is preventable.  Even for individuals who are diagnosed with cancer, there is a high rate of survival when it is detected early.  The cancer survivors depicted in these images are a testament of that,” added Dr Saunthari.

How you can help?

You can these images on donation boxes, postcards, posters and buntings distributed at all 50 Courts stores nationwide. The images will also tour nationwide in different Courts store The campaign aims to raise RM1 million  to help fund more NCSM activities including the second stage of the campaign which includes a school outreach programme and supporting child survivors who are in need of assistance.

Presently, the walkathons are planned to take place in September in Klang Valley; October in Johor Bahru; November in Ipoh and Kuantan and December in Sarawak. This will be followed by the charity dinner and school outreach programme in early 2011.

  • Facebook Vs. Twitter ???

    Facebook, Twitter or Both???

    Dear All,

I guess i am active enough on Facebook & Twitter to be asked like 121 million times:

    1) Why do i need to be in both?
    2) Facebook OR Twitter?

    facebookvstwitter Facebook Vs. Twitter ???

To me, it’s NOT Facebook Vs. Twitter.

Just like i like Chinese food and i like western food. I like them both, why do i need to choose one? I might have a stronger preference for Chinese food, but that does not mean i have to forgo western food right? Man, all this talk about food is making me hungry:)

Coming back to the topic, i often sensed that the real question of many people is “Why do i need to be in both?”

So i quickly run a random survey on Facebook & twitter among my friends who are on both, and this is what they said:

@chiewmei FB for longer term shoutouts, twitter for immediate responses. (:
@Syazsy both. its like a 2 diff people serving you different purposes. wicked.
@mayteng You’ve gotta have both – how else do you stalk enviously through other people’s photos?! icon biggrin Facebook Vs. Twitter ???
@ZestPJ Prefer Facebook. It encourages more discussion.
    @SueAn depends….
@einnasays Both. They serve diff purposes.. Photosharing, social network on fb and infosharing on
@joannawoon Perhaps you have different group of kawan at FB or Twitter.
@yogaretnam Both. Easy to see updates/pics frm friends on FB. Twitter provides realtime updates
@goldfries Twitter has my vote of priority. cos people on FB random and not serious wan. icon razz Facebook Vs. Twitter ???

So what your thought? Facebook, Twitter or Both???

    Cheers,
    Kid Chan
