Friday, February 18th, 2011Royal Wedding of HH Tengku Aslahuddin Ja’afar & Sofia Erica Lane as featured on Harper’s Bazaar A Fashionable Life by Sunitha Thayaparan.
The team was truly honored to be the official photographer of the Royal Wedding of Y.M Tengku Aslahuddin, more affectionately know as Kual and his beautiful bride Sofia Erica Lane. I first met Ku AL when photographing the wedding of his cousin Y.M Tunku Myra to Dato’ James Iskandar Jaa’far Greaves. Always a great sport the wedding was extremely fun to cover, albeit having strict royal protocol to follow. The Akad nikah was held at the Istana Negeri Sembilan while the grand wedding reception was held at the Shangri-la Hotel grand Ballroom. The wedding was followed by a private and intimate after party. The images appeared on Harper’s Bazaar Life.

It was a great honour for me to be commissioned as the official photographer for the wedding of Actress Sharifah Sofia and Tuan Syed Ismail at Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur sometime late last year. Resplendent in Amir Luqman’s Creation the bride and also the groom was an absolutely fun couple to photographed.I first met the groom when I was photographing the wedding of His Highness Tunku Danny & Claire-Louise moore. At the same time I was working on a TV project called Wajah Impian with Sharifah Sofea:)
Here are some of my favorite images from the wedding:
I particularly like the following image, it was also one of the couples’ favorite:
Why? if you look at the image, you would never have imagine when or where is was taken. It was taken at a very crammed and “messy” serving area just before the couple proceeded for their bridal march. I wish I had taken an image of the surrounding for comparison. The closest i had was the following picture:
Sometimes photographers complained to me that “the couple is not good looking , the set up is not nice, the surrounding is not this and that!”
And this is my reply: “Our philosophy as a professional photographer should be make the best with what you have and be the best you can!”

The event was graced by Kelantan Regent Tengku Muhammad Faris Sultan Ismail Petra. It also saw a special performance from the grooms Cobra Team Mates.

As many of you might know TEAM KIDCHAN was flown to Lake Como, Bellagio in Italy in August to photographed the wedding of Malaysia my dear superstar friend Maya Karin to Steven David Shorthose also known as Muhammad Ali.
Last moment as Ms. Maya Karin..
Maya the winner of the Best Actress Award at the 49th Asia Pacific Film Festival, engaged the TEAM a year before. Although it was a great privileged, it was excruciatingly painful for me to contain all the joy to myself as I have sworn to secrecy of not disclosing any details.
Make-up by Khir Khalid and dressed resplendently in Syaiful Baharim creation, the gorgeous Akad Nikah ceremony was held over looking the Lake Como. It was followed with a dinner reception attended by close relatives and friends including director Suhaimi Baba, actress Jeslina Hashim, Celebrity Emcee Datuk Yasmin Yusuff, Phillipa Yong, writer Fay Khoo and of course yours truly
Maya and Steven also have a reception in Forest Reserve Institute of Malaysia two weeks later.

Congratulations to Fadzlun Abas & Megat Khairul (Bob) who got married yesterday . Fadzlun is one of Malaysia Favourite Top Model, married former model Bob the son of Mahaguru Dato’ Hj Omar Din the founder of Pertubuhan Seni Silat Lincah Malaysia.
The simple yet elaborate ceremony at the bride house in Lenggeng (near Mantin) saw top wedding professional such as Celebrity Make-up artist Nurol Shukor , Fashion Designer and Wedding Decorator Yamin (of Euromoda fame) and KIDCHANSTUDIO -the pioneer of Malay Wedding Photojournalism coming togather.
